Associate Professor

Dr. Barbara Gold is Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and Vice-Chair of Education for the anesthesiology department. She focuses on organization, content, and structure of all components of housestaff education, and synthesizes the disparate parts into a cohesive and consistent three-year learning curriculum. Building a stronger curriculum is Dr. Gold’s top priority. “We want to foster intellectual curiosity, equip graduates to grow with the field, and train physicians to be advocates for patient safety,” she says.

Dr. Gold has authored several chapters and articles on patient selection for outpatient anesthesia and management of ambulatory patients with significant coexisting diseases. She presents at national meetings on topics related to anesthetic management of patients with co-morbidities. Most recently, she has chaired the subcommittee of the ASA charged with developing content for the Ambulatory Anesthesia portion of the ASA Annual Meeting.
