Congratulations to Dr. Kumar Belani, Dr. Navneet Kaur and Dr. David Beebe from the Department of Anesthesiology on the recent publication of their study Pharmacokinetics of next generation cyanide antidote sulfanegen in rabbit.
The co-authored research published in the International Journal of Pharmacokinetics showed sulfanegen is rapidly absorbed and distributed throughout the body while the elimination of 3-MP was just as rapid. This research concluded that the PK characteristics of sulfanegen were found to be a suitable fit for the swift treatment of cyanide poisoning.
This research supports sulfanegen as a cyanide antidote and the FDA approval of sulfanegen as a necessary antidote.
